BITUMEN
Description
:
The black residue from the distillation of petroleum, also known as asphalt. Special grades are available for the interior coating of water tanks and pipes. The over-painting of bitumen or bituminous based paints with other types of paints is generally not recommended. This is because such coatings are liable to crack. Enamel paints will be affected by bleeding and discolouration due to solvent action on the bitumen or bituminous coating.
Preparation
:
If the surface is contaminated or chalking, wash with a solution of detergent and water and rinse with clean water. Allow to dry. FINISH Apply one coat of Permoglaze Bituminous Paint or Permoglaze Bituminous Aluminium.
